Need to Write a Letter of Complaint?
If you believe that you have received inadequate service, or have been treated unfairly by a company, then writing a complaint letter is often the best first step to take.
A good complaint letter can make a big difference to the outcome of your situation, and could make a difference between a swift resolution and a long, drawn out struggle for compensation. It could even mean the difference between success and failure in your appeal.
Whether you want to reclaim money from something mis-sold to you, or you feel that your consumer rights have not been met, then a good initial complaint letter can be vital.
How to go about it
If you feel wronged by a company, then it can be tempting to write them a letter of complaint which is peppered with vitriol, pouring scorn upon the company and their business practices.
You may find this very cathartic, but it is not the best course of action. Some companies may deliberately do things that seem intentionally designed to take advantage of you, but most actually do wish to provide good customer service and satisfaction, and would be happy to address your complaint.
There are many things to consider when writing a complaint letter, as this initial letter will set the tone for your whole appeal. The more offensively you begin the process, the more defensive the company will become, and you may see your chances of compensation dwindle.
